A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, therefore making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. A crown is sometimes also know as a ‘Cap’. Porcelain, metal or also combination of both may be used to construct crowns. At the front of the mouth Porcelain crowns may also be an aesthetic solution to repair broken down teeth.
Porcelain crowns typically require 2 visits spread over 1 to 2 weeks. At the first visit for the preparation for the crown we trim down the tooth. Finally the last appointment is to bond the crown onto the tooth.
