Dentures can certainly be a great way to replace missing teeth. Our clinical denture technician, Jonathan Hughes has a wealth of experience to help provide the best solution for you.

Jonathan will perform all of the clinical stages of making your false teeth in the practice. He will then manufacture them at his Lab, Hughes Dental Laboratory. Jonathan also accepts referrals from local dental practices.

What Are Types of Dentures Are Available?

Full, implant-retained, BPS and partial dentures can be provided.

We can also offer implant retained solutions for patients with the adequate quality and volume of bone. Dr Stephen Davies places the dental implants. Stephen has a masters degree in dental implantology. The combination of dental implants and dentures consequently produces a prosthesis with a greater stability and retention.

Our 3 Step Process

Strategic planning is an important step in the phase of any treatment. Below outlines our 3 step Dentures plan.

Assessment & Planning

Firstly, we must evaluate your needs, clinical history and perform a thorough assessment. Following this we may provide a treatment plan appropriate to your requirements.

Treatment

Generally dentures may take 4 to 5 appointments to complete. And there is normally 1 week between each stage. The stages in denture manufacture are normally Impressions, Bite registration, Try in of a mock up of the dentures, and finally the fitting of the completed prosthesis..

Aftercare

Following the fit of dentures it is quite normal to need some adjustments to make them comfortable, just like wearing in a new pair of shoes. We recommend yearly examinations to ensure the mouth is healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do dentures cost?

The cost of dentures varies greatly due to the quality of materials and type of denture. A denture of lower cost may use less expensive teeth and acrylic which may be detrimental to fit and longevity. Our partial dentures start from £445.

What are dentures made from?

Most dentures are made from acrylic which is a hard plastic material. Some may also have rigid frameworks made of metal (Cobalt Chromium) or strong special plastic (Ultaire). You can even have a flexible acrylic denture. Our dentist or clinical dental technician will help you choose the correct denture for your needs.

Do I need to take my dentures out at night?

Yes you need to take your dentures out each night to maintain a healthy mouth. If they are left in they can cause Thrush and also damage to any remaining teeth and their gums.

How do you clean dentures?

Dentures can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush or denture brush. We also recommend that you soak your dentures in some water with a cleansing tablet to kill the build up of microorganisms.

How long do dentures last?

Dentures last on average 5-10 years. Over time the supporting bone reduces and dentures lose their fit. Also over time the denture teeth may become worn.

Can I get new dentures without a dentist?

A Clinical Dental Technician can make a full set of dentures without you having to see a dentist. However, if you have natural teeth remaining you will need to see a dentist first to check they are all ok before your new dentures are made.

Are Dentures better than Dental Implants?

Both dentures and dental implants have their pros and cons, and every patient is different. For some people Dentures are the better option as they are simple to provide and less costly than implants. Some patients may prefer the stability of an implant retained solution. We will always discuss all your options at the initial consultation.
